You need to look at the wiring diagram.

I have no idea what the extra wire are for.

Control wiring?

1120/240 option?

Just to be clear, by box do you mean electrical box, control box, or thermostat?

The wires you describe at the furnace sound like the colors for a 5-wire thermostat, is why I ask. Red, Green, White sounds like electrical though.

The problem im having is with the thermostat wires. this set up im using has been working. ive cut the wires by mistake. im trying to re-establish the connection with the thermostat to the furnace, the electritian originally connected the 5 wires from the furnace unit (thermostat wires) to the 3 wires coming from my power box. somehow he condenced the 5 wires down to make the connection with the 3 wires coming from power box. My thermostat still has power. but the connection to the furnace unit is interrupted. in short im trying to figure out what color comination he used to connect th 5 wire thermostat wires to the 3 wires coming from my power box.The 5 wires coming from my furnace is Red Yellow Blue White and Green. The 3 wires coming from my power box is Red Green and White.

Heat only applications.
The 24 volt wiring is Red, and White, if the stat doesn't require a common.
