Question

Need to replace can light with standard light

We have a recessed light fixture in the bathroom that the wife wants me to replace with a small chandilier she purchased. The new light has all the standard h/w to hang it from a standard ceiling light box. Since the existing recessed light and can are in the ceiling, and the hole for it is much larger than the normal ceiling light box, I'm looking for a solution to replacing the light properly. I know I can go Rambo and just open the ceiling enough to rip out the can and put in the correct size ceiling box for the new light size and weight (though it is a small fixture). I am curious if there is some sort of conversion kit to replace the recessed light. I will probable put one of those decorative ceiling medallian's up to cover the larger hole.

Thanks!

Take this for what it is worth, as I have never used it before (I'm more the Rambo type ), but I did see on the shelf at lowes, a kit for doing just what you want to do. It is in their Intelitech store brand, located with the recessed fixtures. It might be worth a look.

Househelper - I bought that kit @ Lowes and installed it last evening. Worked great! And if I ever want to change it back to a spot, it'll take 5 minutes or less. Thanks for the tip.
