need opinons on electric to a garage

My daughter bought a house a while back with a 24x40 pole garage with no electric in it located about 60 feet from the house. The house has a 150 amp service with pushmatic breakers with a overhead drop to it. I pulled the cover off the box and it looks like a can of cooked noodles.
The pole in the yard is about 90 feet from the house for the electric comes from. and about 96 feet from the garage.
So to get to my Question.
I am considering getting a serperate service to the garage instead of running from the house mainly because the size of the garage has many future uses I think. I know runnning from the house will be cheaper and quicker but we plan on using this place for a long time with woodworking and other things and can forsee many power hunger things to come.
So is it wrong to go with a seperate service if the power company goes for it?
Thank in advance.
Jerry

Your power company may charge a commercial rate for the second meter.

Your services would also need to be grouped. This may complicate things based on your current service and the space available.

Bite the bullet now and replace the service with 200 amp panel in the house and run a 100 amp sub-panel out to the garage. Most power utilities will bill an extra meter like a standalone service. Extra $15 or more per month- adds up fast. You already know the panel is a can of noodles and the pushamatic breaker panels do not have great reputations.
