Need Help Repairing Hair straightener (CHI-brand) Electrical Short.
 

Okay....so you know my problem as per the headline. I am currently experiencing problems with this hair straightener. The manufacturer is Chi. I know nothing of thes "flat irons" nor any electric appliance for that matter. The thing is there is apparently a short in the cord or the flat iron itself. One would have to play with the cord at times to keep it working so I'm quite certain it must be a short of sorts. Problem is now the damn thing won't heat up at all. I feel like this would be a perfect DIY project as it doesn't seem as though it should be too complicated for a newbie. Please advise Post Haste. THEENKS>

Sounds like you don't have a short but an intermittent connection within the power lead.

Replace the power lead or get it replaced by a competent person.

Yes replace by a person that knows what they are doing. Running an electrical appliance through someones hair is reason to be concerned about the quality if any repair made to the unit.
I'm sure the item can be fixed but your not experienced don't experiment with it.
