I understand that this is a DIY forum. The point of my story is that there is "NO SIMPLE ELECTRICAL WORK". Just my opinion. You can kill someone with 120V in a bathroom more ways than I can count. You can start a fire with 120V anywhere, in a million different ways.

I don't care if people want to DIY, I was just giving one example that illustrates the risks involved in believing that anything electrical is "simple".

Unfortunately, completion of the work and getting it to work in no way means that it was done to code. An inspection is no guarantee either. The amount of things I've seen that passed inspection with code violations could fill volumes. FWIW, an electrical contractor is no guarantee of code compliance either.

I'm not saying that what you've done isn't to code. I wouldn't know without seeing it all.

he mentioned that the house is using the old 2 wire Romex.... no the metal box would not give you a ground, but if used (most likely is) then this would make no difference here, but would need a ground wire to it if one was present.
