Installing 15x30 above ground swimming pool with heat pump and additional outlets around the deck.

Question 1--Pool will be 120' from from breaker panel, what gauge/type wire should I use for all components(pump, heater, outlets)?
Question 2--How deep does conduit need to be buried?
Question 3--What are grounding requirements?
Question 4--Are there any GFI requirements?
Question 5--Should I install sub panel at the pump and heater location and wire everyting from there?

Thank you in advance for your replies. Just looking to do this the right way because everything was given to me, did not look professionally installed at the time, I don't have the finances available to hire.

What are the specs for the pool pump, heat pump & other items ?

GFCi required for pump & any outlets within 20' of the pool
I also GFCI all lights near the pool - not sure on code

Depth depends upon conduit
12" if GFCI protected before it goes into PVC conduit, 18" if not
Less if you use steel

Sub depends upon load

My comments in red:
Question 1--Pool will be 120' from from breaker panel, what gauge/type wire should I use for all components(pump, heater, outlets)? Depends on the equipment.
Question 2--How deep does conduit need to be buried? 18" minimum.
Question 3--What are grounding requirements? Not sure what you mean. EVERYTHING must be grounded. There is also very specific bonding requirements.
Question 4--Are there any GFI requirements? Yes, pretty much anything directly related to the pool equipment.
Question 5--Should I install sub panel at the pump and heater location and wire everyting from there? I would.
If you are looking for detailed explanations of all this there is no way I personally am going to type it all. Maybe someone else will want to.
There are tons of specific codes with regard to wiring for pools and related equipment. Codes you NEED to know and follow.
Your best bet is to find a few good books on home wiring that have sections on pools. MAKE SURE they are up to date and not one of the recalled books.

....., I don't have the finances available to hire.
You had better find them or sturdy up on this stuff. This is no place to learn as you go or feel your way through!! There is too much at stake!

I will answer much as I can

A1 It depending on the size of equiment and voltage requrement { most case you will need both 120 and 240 volts ( there are some pumps that will required to run on 240 volts )]

A2 Minuim requirement .45 meter {18 inches } but check with your local office for latest info and there may other depth requirement if under paver or contcerte.

A3 There is a very specfic code requirement with grounding and bonding. Oh yeah when you bring out the conduit it must have green ground conductor no bare conductor allowed ( I am pretty sure the codes do not allowed UF (underground feeder ) cable as well )

A4 Oh Yeah they will required GFCI this is very strict on this part.

A5 I will really recomoned that you set up a subpanel there to make it easier to bring it to subpanel.

The other thing I will addressed here if you have any light post that feed from the house it must be on GFCI { there is no loopholes near pool area at all }

Merci,Marc

...or if you find someone dumb enough to do it. :whistling2:

"final sign off with you doing all the work"? Seriously?
Sorry, my license is not for rent.

The only work I "sing off" on is my own.
