my central a/c heat unit trips my 40 amp breaker after running heat for 5 minutes.

hi,i have a 9 year old rheem air and heat central home unit. my central heat runs with a 40 amp breaker. what happens is the breaker will trip after 3 to 7 minutes all the time,, so i just have heat for about 5 minutes.. a friend of mine we are electric contractors , but not a/c repair. he was saying my LIMIT SWITCH could be bad? thanks let me hear from you.

A heat pump can draw excessive current and trip the breaker if the Freon level is too low.

You will want to have an HVAC specialist inspect the unit and do any needed servicing.
