My Breaker Keeps breaking

Yesterday I tried to get all of my lights and outlets in my master bedroom on the same circuit. The only problem is that when I got it all wired and turned on the breaker it trips right away. I since re ran the wire I didn't knock the staples in as far.

Is it possible I have the wrong size break for 5 outlets and three light fixtures? 20 amp

Someone please help.

No, it sounds like a short or neutral/hot are mixed somewhere

Overloading the breaker won't trip it until items are turned on

You need to tell us how you wired everything, and then we can help.
Is this an Arcfault breaker or not?

Incorrect connection or dead short to neutral or ground. Check all boxes and make sure no wires have come loose, and no hots are touching anything. You will find it if you look.

Bridge the turned-off breaker with a 100w incand. bulb. As long as the bulb is at full brightness you have a short.

Heres the deal...I had an electrician come to put in 2 200 amp panels which he did but he cut some wire and stuffed them up in the ceiling in the basement. I didnt know until I came in and noticed my bedroom didnt have electric to anything. I traced out the wire and found it. So I put the two cut wires into a J Box and ran 12/2 all the way to the panel and plugged it into a 20 amp cutler hammer breaker.

The only thing I can thing of is when I swtiched out the outlets up stairs maybe one of the wires are loose but I havn't investigated that far.

Thanks for all the advice so far.

If everything was fine and worked before the panels was changed I would call them back and have them fix it! There should be no-charge if it's there fault.

That would be great but the electrician wont answer my calls....the first time i called him he did but then when I told him he messed up he claimed that he didnt cut anything amazing how it was cut clean and wrapped up nicely with a wire tie around it.

I think he honestly didnt feel like dealing with it since it is an old and in that case he shouldnt have bid the job, and do most of the work.

Any other soulutions?

Was there a permit pulled for panel change? I would cantact St.louis better business bureau File a complaint http://www.bbb.org/us/ Someone else will chime in and give you more advise .If you could post pics of the j-box and the wires would help.I still would make him come back and fix it he tore it apart should be no problem for him to fix

Yeah I told the county inspector about the stuff that he did and he didnt really say much about it. That guy was trying to get me to do my own work and pay him to pull permits. He did pull a permit for the new service and of that passed, he just was trying to get over on me because I am young.

Did you change out the outlets? As every one has said you have a dead short if you take the five rec out and look at how they are conected Brass screw black wires-Silver screw white wires then you have your green ground .Like the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDhYD...eature=related Or do you know where the first rec is after leaving the breaker? You could take out the five outlets Put wirenuts on each wire Then turn on the breaker and see if that clears the problem if it does then turn breaker back off and put the closest rec back together and so on
