Multiple 4 way switches stopped working

I installed the light circuit in my garage with 4 way switches so I could turn the lights on/off from each entrance. They worked fine for about 6 months and then started not working. At first I thought that a switch had not been thrown all the way to the other position and I would cycle all switches and get the lights to come on. No one switch seemed to fix the problem. Now they will not come on no matter how many times I flip all switches. All switched were new when installed.

Multiple 4 way switches stopped working

Well I fixed the problem. I bought a 3 way and a 4 way switch and just started replacing them. If the one I replaced did not fix the problem, I used it in the next position. When I changed one of the 3 way ones, the problem went away.

Multiple 4 way switches stopped working

4-way swiches are only used between two 3-way switches.

Multiple 4 way switches stopped working

Right. I had 2 3 way switches with 2 4 way switches in between them. One of the 3 way ones was not making contact or something so I replaced it with a new one and the system works fine again.
Thanks for the reply.
