Multicore colour code

Hi there,

As you can see, I'm new to this forum. I have a question about multicore cable (CW1308 type).

I use standard twisted-pair on a regular basis and know the colour codes back to front. I've just come across some 80 core cable however, twisted in quads. Each quad has the colours red and yellow in it, but I'm not sure of the official “running order” for all the conductors. I've entered a number of search patterns in Google, but can't seem to turn anything over.

And help or pointers to where I can find some more info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Matt Fry

BTW, there is an extra black in the cable, making the number of conductors 81!

Multicore colour code

Chances are that black wire was wraped around all the bundles.....some of the stuff I use usually has an orange wire....

Look at those bundles....each one is going to have a trace color on the wire.....

I just use the trace color as the controlling factor....typically following the color code....black, brown, red....etc.

No real standard....so....do what you want....just write it down and be consistant.
