Default multi fan control switch

I have 2 (probably they are over 20 years old) SMC fans with variable speed control that I need to replace in my living room. Both fans are connected to one variable speed switch on the wall. I've chosen to replace the fans with new Hunter Originals. Hunter technical support tells me that their Multi-fan variable speed control switch (22394) is for industrial use and will cause the new fans to hum. Meanwhile their standard capacitor H-M-L switch for Original fans (22691) is only 2 AMPs and is not rated for controlling 2 Original fans on the same circuit. I want to keep the original setup I have and control both fans on one switch. What are my options for fixing this problem? Hunter tech support says I should install 2 - 22691 switches on different circuits. I'd rather not do this if I don't have to. Hunter tech support also said the new fans might work on the old variable control switch. Is there another vendor that produces a switch like the 22691 that will work with 2 Original fans on the same switch, and not cause the fans to hum? What are the risks of running the new fans on the old switch? I haven't examined the old switch yet so I don't have any more info about it. Thank you.
