to move or not to move...the panel
 

when i get around to the rear of this project, i'll be faced with what to do with the panel. i'm thinking i want a new, larger one for extra breakers because of the need to do it to code and having enough dedicateds to go around. right now it's in that drywalled square and the door is along the edge of an open 'closet'. ideally, i'd like to move it to the exterior wall, or is this a nono for some reason? i don't think it can be in a closed closet as this area will be when finished. maybe just turn it around and put it on the outside of the closet wall? also, since this will no longer be a 'mobile home' when i'm done, do i need to redo the wiring from the pole in copper instead of aluminum? (that was a real pain last time)

Why would you have to switch from AL to copper? I like copper and all, but whats your reasoning on the switch?

i thought it was for mobiles only. so long as it's ok, i'll leave it.

Something to keep in mind is that the panel cannot be located in a clothes closet. In a pantry closet or mop closet is fine, provided the 30x36" clearance is provided.

Very few people have copper for there SE or the drop from the mast head. I might do it, but I'm a little nuts.:thumbsup:

Can you post photos of the current service drop, how it is attached to the structure, the panel, and the surrounding area?
