Motor wiring

can anyone tell me how to connect a start condenser to an electric motor.
I have an old GE 115V 1/2 HP 1725RPM single phase motor that I want to replace the start condenser on. There are three wires comming out of the motor a brown a red and a black. I measure 1 ohm from the black to brown, 2 ohm from brown to red and 3 ohm from black to red. I have a new AC condenser, can anyone please advise. Do you mean a start capacitor for a AC condenser?

If this is what you are talking about there should be a schematic on the inside of the panel you took off.

If this isn't what you are talking about please give more detail, posting pictures would help too.

You hook it up just like the old one was hooked up.

I am not aware of how the original condenser was hooked up/ I received the motor without the condenser

Ok, everybody stop.

I think the OP meant a start capacitor. In the old days, we used to have little things in engines called condensers. They were just capacitors. I suspect the terminology was just carried over, wherever OP is, that some folks call a cap a condenser.

as to what what oldpro asked;

an ac condenser is the part of an air conditioning unit that sets outside the house. Around this time if year, there will be all sorts of threads about the capacitors for the starting circuit on the compressor and the fan. At least that is what I believe he was referring to.

Did you take off the plate that covers the wires where they enter the motor, sometimes a wiring diagram is on the flip side of cover.???

How did you know how to get the correct capacitor for the motor? They are rated in MFD and volts. How do you know you have the correct one?

You have three options in my opinion. At least this is what I would do.

1) Call the manufacturer of the condensing unit (AC manufacturer) and ask them about the specs. They may be able to send you one (not for free) and send you the connection diagram. Did you not save the paper work that came with the complete AC system when it was installed? These papers have a list of all parts and a connection diagram for everything on your AC system.
2) Look inside the condenser unit and see if there is a wiring diagram on one of the access panels. Every AC condenser and evaporator I have opened up has a the diagram. Some times they are missing, but were there at time of install. So check outside and inside for the drawing. Also, as mentioned above, the motor should have a diagram located on the outside nameplate or inside the electrical connection box.
3) Have an AC contractor come out and fix it for you, or take the motor to a local motor shop and get a replacement. DO NOT let them fix it! It will be less money to just get a new motor.

just installed new fan motor has 3wires purple/brown and black trying to get help on where wires go on capacitor and contactor.
