Motion Sensor to Flood Light Unit
Hello everyone...I am new to this forum and am a first time new home owner. From the looks of it, this forums seems very helpful.
I had a flood light installed in my back yard when the house was built but the motion sensor I had to purchase separately and install on my own. Before I install it I want to make sure I am doing it right.
From the Floodlight- Black, White and Green wire.
From the Motion Sensor - Black, White and Red.
I am sure the Red goes to the Green but I would feel more comfortable getting some feedback to validate that would be the right connection.
Thanks in advance for any help.:)
There should be a black, white, and red wire coming from the sensor. The white wire gets connected to the white wire of the fixture and the white wire of the wall box. The black wire gets connected to the black wire of the wall box. The red wire gets connected to the black wire of the fixture.
Attach any ground wire coming from your house to the junction box
Hope this helps
Great....Glad I asked. Otherwise I would've connected the red to green. Didn't realize that nothing goes to the green.
The circuit ground should connect to the green.
