Question

mobile home light switch

I have a few light switches gone bad in my mobile home. They are not the common light switches. How can I convert them to the common light switches.

Why convert? Why not buy new replacements!

Replacements will be hard to come by.

Do you own or rent?

If you rent, call the landlord and have him send someone out.
If you own you can remove the all-in-one device and install a cut-in device box and conventional device.

What is best to do is take out the old box which is usually a fake box, you know the ones with the built in cover-switch with the cover that screws to the wall and there is not a real box behind it...if that is what you have. Replace them with a real plastic pop in box and convert to new switches. Usually the wire is not marked so be careful with the new wiring.
