Missing outlet box

Hey y'all,

I'm working on a bathroom project which includes replacing the light fixture to something a little less... well.. ugly. Unfortunately it seems that no outlet box was placed in the wall. To make matters worse, there is a water pipe on the right side of the opening. Now I would have liked to put a fixture that was not a bar type but not sure if I have any other options at this point. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Depending on the fixture, a surface-mount box may work for you.

Not all fixtures require separate boxes. Some fixtures have integrated boxes to enclose the cable and fixture wires.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I need to take a closer look at my lighting options to see all that is out there.

is the hole dead center of the vanity or can you move alittle to the left? if you can move alittle to the left you can use a round old work cut in box.
