meter & main service panel upgrade from 100amp to 200amp
Hi. I need to upgrade my service to 200amp and early on I thought I would do all of the electrical work myself, so I bought the materials. Now I would like to hire a referred electric contractors to do the meter swap/service hookup but I'm having a difficult time getting anyone to stop out since this is such a small job, I already have the materials and everyone is busy due to Superstorm Sandy.
The existing meter is supplied via underground wiring (this was done about 15 yrs ago when the house was moved to its current location). I called the electric company and I was told that since this is an underground feed there will need to be a connect/disconnect done by them if the meter pan needs to be swapped out. If the meter pan doesn't need to be swapped out then the meter can simply be pulled & switched. They told me an electrician will determine if the meter pan is acceptable.
This job is my own residence and we gutted the house and added an addition. My experience with electric is wiring this entire house, including pre-wiring the new circuits for the 200amp main service panel. I've never worked on a meter or hooked up a service panel to a meter.
Any comments or advice if I was to try this myself? Is there a way I can tell if the existing meter pan will work with a 200amp meter?
Is this a repost?

sort of. Nobody responded to this question of my 2 questions in my other post so I said in the other post I would post this question again. But then all of you guys started answering me in my other post. I didn't see a way to delete this post so I was hoping it would shrivel on the vine.
