May I switch an acid-lead battery with a lithium-ion battery?

Hello, this is my first post on this forum, I hope you can give me a hand on this:
I'm photographer and I own an lighting equipment that's battery operated and that works with a 12v 7.5 acid lead battery. I was wondering if it was possible to switch the battery for this one, wich is a Li-ion battery:

Is there any advantage in doing this? More power? More lightweight? etc.

Volts is volts.

If both have the same output then where it comes from shouldn't matter.
I'd still suggest that you ask the lighting equipment maker first though.

The lithium ion battery has a longer amp curve in other words your lights with stay brighter longer but watch how you recharge the battery to hot and it will explode

You'll need a different charger. If it's built into the device don't even think of putting in the li-ion battery.

The charger is built inside the device, but I understand that the li-ion should be recharged with another special charger.
In thems of power would the Li-ion battery last 2 times longer, 3 times longer? Would there be a big difference?
In therms of weight, would it be lighter?

A 12v 7.5 amp/hr battery of either chemistry has the same capacity but the discharge curves are different.

Ok, so the question I should have asked is (maybe) if I could swap the lead-acid battery with a higher capacity Li-ion battery?

Or a higher capacity lead acid battery and avoid the charging problem.

The device wouldn't accept bigger battery and the if it did weight would increase, I'm lookin wether to gain capacity or loose weight (or both).

Lead Acid? Are you sure it's not a gel cell battery? Or is it a car battery?

Just so you understand, there is a BIG difference in charging methods for Lead Acid vs Li.

I would start with the manuf of the lighting equipment.

That's 10 times the cost of a comparable lead-acid battery. The performance will be essentially identical. The only difference is weight. Is reducing the weight worth that much?

Is it a SLA battery? Sealed lead acid?

Yes, the device works with this kind of battery:
pdf: http://www.ultracell.co.uk/datasheet...s/UL7.2-12.pdf

The charging process is not an issue as I can take the battery in and out very easily so I can charge it with another charger.

Why not just by another battery? I know it's awkward to carry two but it's a lot cheaper and you'll have no problems charging it.

Well, your answer make sense, I guess the answer is No, but If I can get 10 times the capacity for the same weight then maybe the answer is yes.
