main to sub panel conduit/wire run
2 Attachment(s)
I have a few questions about running the wires and conduit from my main panel to my sub panel. the sub panel located less than 1 foot to the right of the main panel.

using #2 wire(100 amp sub panel) I was planning on running the 2 hot leads, the neutral and ground in the same conduit. is this ok? and I was planning on running them from the right side of the main panel, near the bottom using 2" conduit I already have.

as for the circuits I am bringing from the main panel to the sub panel--I was planning on running them from the side of the panel somewhere in between the middle and the top. Can I use the same conduit for all of them? or do I need seperate conduit? I was planning on moving 6 or 8 circuits over using 12-2 and 1 1/2" conduit. thanks

sounds like a good plan, use 2 seperate pipes one for your feeders the other for your circuits.

your ground doesnt have to be so big, but itlll sure work ;)

another question--as you can see from the pic there is a gound/neutral buss on each side---I am planning on running my ground and neutral off the one on the right. does it make a difference?

see the small empty neutral lug next to where the neutral comes in to your panel, (the bare aluminum wire) i would pull the neutral from there and your ground from the ground bar, now you will have to get a lug and add it to the bar in your panel for your ground because it wont fit unless you downsize it which you probably should to make the job easier.

make sure you get #2 copper for your feeds not aluminum

which side does the wire from the ground rod come in on? id go with that one

I have to look at what side it is on--not sure.

I am going to use copper wires not aluminum

In a service panel the neutral and grounds can be intermixed on the same buss. In a subpanel the grounds need to be on a seperate buss.

Since I only see an uninsulated neutral this looks like a service panel.

yes Jim this is the main service panel
