Main 50 amp breaker in meter room keeps tripping

I would like to know why the 50 amp breaker in the meter room keeps tripping and none of the breakers in the house with less amps are not tripping.

Are you in the apartment complex or what ?? and if this is the case you should get a hold of landlord and he will have to get a hold a electrician to come out and check the main breaker.

Merci,Marc

Main 50 amp breaker in meter room keeps tripping

To answer literally - Each breaker controls a different and separate circuit - so if your 50 amp electric oven/stove (for example) is shorting to ground - then that breaker trips..
But the other (less amperage) breakers are not connected to or controlling that circuit - so they do not care what the oven does....that's why you have so many wires runing around in your attic or basement - many separate circuits coming from main service panel and running around the house ..hope that isn't too simplistic an answer...
Re-reading your post - sounds like you think the 50 amp breaker (in meter room) is powering the "panel in the house" - I.e. there are 2 panels?? Then I spoke too soon..not sure if I can delete a post

IT's NOT THE BREAKERS THAT CONTROL ANYTHING IN THE HOUSE. IT's THE MAIN ONE FROM THE OUTSIDE. NONE OF THE BREAKERS INSIDE THE BREAKER PANEL IN THE HOUSE ARE TRIPPING.

As far for the main breaker at the outdoor location there are few cuprits one is most common is loose connection or corrosion on the connections.

And as I mention above if this is a apartment complex again I will mention it will be the safest way is get a ahold of electrician { the landlord will have to call them }

If you are an apartment - then indeed follow the frenchelectrician advice.
If it's your own house - you need to know where the wires frlom the 50 amp tripping breaker go..
I have 2 panels also - one outside and one inside too - both panels control different circuits throughout house and yard and shop

The reason none of the smaller breakers are tripping is because none of them are overloaded. A bunch of low currents will trip the main. For example if you have ten 15 amp breakers and each of them is drawing 7 amps. None of them will trip but your main breaker will be drawing 70 amps. That would trip a 50 amp breaker.
