low voltage wire repair on lights outside

If I move a light will black tape be enough to cover and seal the old hole made in the wire? Do I need to double wrap it or what? Thanks

Your post makes little sence to me.

Any juntions, splices, or live dead ended wires need to be in an approved electrcal box with a cover and be accessible.
its outdoor low voltage from the looks of his title.

I believe the OP needs to look for direct burial splice connectors.

big box or local hardware should have them.
