low voltage??


I bought a house and I was told that a couple of the swithces were low voltage that control some lights. what does this mean and can I switch to normal swithces? I will be glad to give more info if needed and I can answer it.

low voltage??


A low voltage system uses a transformer to step down the input voltage to a lower voltage(usually 12V) to the lamps. It depends how your system is wired and what you what to do. Can you post some pics.

There is also a system that uses low-voltage switches to control relays that control 120V lighting. You might find this type of system in an older house.

how can I tell if it is a low voltage switch, or if low voltage is going to the switch.
