Looking for a wiring solution or remote for a Hunter fan/light that works with 2 ciruits

I have a bedroom ceiling circuit with a 3 way switch to control the overhead light. Also wired is a 2nd switch to power a ceiling fan.
Several years ago had a Hunter fan/light professionally installed with a remote. 3 way turned the light on and off &. 2nd switch turned fan on. Remote controlled the on/off & speeds of the fan. Remote allowed us to bypass the light circuit and just control the fan with the remote. This remote failed recently. (Bought new remote but the desgin of the new receiver doesn't allow for the previous solution (my electrician who did the original job came back for the install the replacement when I couldn't figure it out and shared that bad news.)

No chance of getting a legacy remote that works from Hunter or an online parts place?

Is it possible that part of the remote was bypassed and the switching was only by the wall switches?

I am getting confused by the &amp part of the original post.
