looking for good digital thermostat


sorry if this post is in the wrong place.

looking for a good digital, programmable thermostat to retrofit into my house.
any suggestions for something under $100?

Yeah, this should be posted in the HVAC section. A moderator will probably move it for you.

I've had good luck with White-Rogers, Lux, and Honeywell. Some Honeywell ones can be a pain to install though.

Look for one that works with your system (gas, elect, heat pump, etc.) with features you like.

Honeywell Vision-Pro series. Make sure you get right type for your system as was stated earlier. Most HVAC sites I've been to tell homeowners not to bother with most of the stuff available at the big box stores. I got mine off ebay (new in the box) for about $120, a Vision Pro and very satisfied with it.

I've been using a RiteTemp 8030c digital touchscreen for almost 3 years that I got at the big Orange box and have had good luck with it. It was around $90 at the time. It is very configurable for the price. The only thing it's missing is a backlight, but they have newer models with them now. Honeywell seemed much more expensive for the same features and I didn't think it was worth it. Personally, I think you pay too much for that name.
