Little Question Please Help : )

I recently purchased a 2' 2 light fluorescent fixture and I was wondering if I could make a power cable that I can plug into a wall by connecting a replacement power cable to the two wires coming out of the balast. Thanks

you can buy whips that have a plug on one end and open wires on the other.

Where can I buy that? I only have a lowes, walmart, and radioshack around here. Also, how would I put it together, regular twist wire connectors?

You can get them at lowes. What you want is called a power cord. It will have a nema 5-15 male plug on the end and black, white and green wires that can be connected to the ballast wires with wire nuts. You will also need a clamp for the cord to secure it to the light fixture knockout hole. Do a search at lowes.com. It should show a picture of one.

also where do i put the ground screw????

Take a tester and make sure that the green wire shows condunity to the round prong (or pin shape) of the cord cap that is by itself at the bottom. The ground pin should be the green wire and connect to a ground screw on the light fixture.

The two blade prongs are hot and neutral. If you look at the face of a recepticle the hot is the smaller one. Hold your cord cap up and visualize which prong on your cord cap that would be and ring it out to the other end and hook it up to the black from the ballast.

See the answer I gave to your other post!

I did not realize this thread had wandered into the grounding question.
JW is right. There was no reason to start the other thread.

In any case I see both questions have been answered.
