In-line fuses used on GE 200amp panel instead of main breaker
Want to order spare 200amp fuse but don't remember specs, size etc from several yrs before when one ot them went bad. There are two fuses on main in-line into box instead of breaker. House was build in '90. May have to pull the fuse holder out and cut power to house to get info again but would like to find one online if possible...when the last fuse went bad several yrs ago our local elec supply had to order for us and we didn't order a spare?? All has been fine since but realize we need a spare. Thanks

Why did a house built in '90 have fuses?? WTF??

I have to say that I'm surprised by the installation of fuses in newer construction. But I like fuses. They ALWAYS blow at their rating. Breakers are mechanical devices and their trip range can vary a bit. Still they are convienient. Before you pull the main fuses, turn off all of the breakers in the panel. You don't want to pull those out under load.

I love fuses.....:) Who knows maybe someone got it cheap or maybe Canada?

The panel spec sheet on the cover (if its readable) should tell you what fuses to use.

Sure this isn't a fused main disconnect that then feeds a main lug panel ??

i am thinking might be a common class RK fuse let me get the picture to see what it look like

somthing like this kinda pretty common BUT one very impoart item you need to know is make sure you have the right " class " , type , rating fuse

that type of fuse i show you on the photo this is pretty common and this one what we call quick blow or one time fuse. it dont have any time delay for power surge like some hevey load to kick on.

the other verison is the timedelay verison it will have diffrent lettering on it

right now there are too many to list it here for 200 amp size there is about 8 -12 diffrent type and style so best bet is have the OP read the disconnect switch it will have info on the tag.

Merci, Marc

ONE WARNING do not touch the fuse metal ends when the power is on you can get nailed very hard with this.

and also if feel very hot like burning smell just call the electrician right away we can deal with that in safe manner
