In-Line duct fan, how to wire properly...

Bought two of these Suncort In-Line duct fans to improve the air flow to two rooms. My question is, how are you supposed to wire these properly when they don't give you a junction box to house the connections in? There is a small plastic grommet where the three wires come out the side of the fan (certainly not big enough for a piece of romex to go through). The instructions seem to indicate just wiring a cord to the three wires with wire nuts.

Are the ducts going to be close enough to just mount a 2 X 4 juntion box to a floor joist?

No, they are on opposite ends of the house.

From the Sun-court web site instructions:

"Your In-Line Duct Fan™ must be connected to a 110/120 Volt AC, 60Hz fuse or circuit breaker protected power source only in a manner approved by all applicable codes. Never connect your In-Line Duct Fan™ to a 240 Volt AC blower motor or other 240 Volt system. All electrical connections to this fan must be made in an approved junction box. This junction box must be permanently attached to the fan at the point where the motor wires exit the metal duct pipe. The junction box must be reliably mounted to prevent it from shifting or rotating. The junction box can be attached with 2 or more sheet metal screws, rivets or machine screws with a nut and lock washer. Power to the fan must be supplied following all applicable building and electrical codes."

Huh, I don't recall seeing that in the instructions that came with the fans. But that is exactly what I did (see the attachments)...

I also wired these to a junction box in the furnace room and used a RIBU1C relay to control them off the furnace fan wiring controls so they come on every time the fan is turned on (either automatically or manually at the thermostat).
