Cool

lights blinks when another appliance is switched on

I just moved into a new house, well, the house is over 50 yrs old and not really new.
it has 100A for the board.
one issue with the electrical is that whenever I switch on some heavy equipment like a pump or vacuum cleaner, other light in the room blinks, for just a second.

I went to the board and found that all circuit breakers are of 20A, not 15A. so this is not because of the insufficient power supplied from one of the c/b.

what can be the reason?

The additional current drawn by the pump, etc., causes a momentary drop in voltage. This voltage drop will often cause a flicker, especially in incandescent lights. In a fraction of a second, your power source adjusts to compensate to the additional current demand.

Unfortunately, a marginal wiring connection can also cause the flicker. You might want to check all the connections on that branch circuit to make sure they're clean and tight.

thank you Dave.
yes, my incandescent light flicks, but not for my tube light. I'm going to check any loose connection along the line.

so which line you think is loose, the supply to light or to pump?

thanks

Probably to the light, but that's just a guess.
