Lighting with a transformer

5 Attachment(s)
Ok so heres my problem .. i am lost lol

I bought these lights and transformers ( on the cheap ) and they came with no instructions I am currently 90% through my first every DiY project i just need to finish the lighting and then its all ready.

what i need to know is does anyone know how to connect these things to the mains ? i have tested my wiring i did for the main ring in the extansion and its all live so i just want to know how to fit these lights to it

I have no DiY experience i have purely done the complete extansion and kitchen by looking at forums like this to learn so please be gentle with me lol
I live in the UK btw ( dunno if this effects the woring at all )

i have attached a few pics if u need more then feel free to ask

Look on the mfg. web site for install instruction. Most can be downloaded in PDF

I know those lights but I don't understand your question

Post numbers from the lamps and spec's from the 'former.

This isn't my most helpful post ever, but...

Are you sure you want to install these things? I have no knowledge of approval/listing agencies in the UK (such as UL here), but are these fixtures listed or otherwise approved for use?

Sketchy undocumented electrical fixtures bring a picture of house fires to my mind...

OK I think i was a touch vague in my post lol

Basically what it is I need to know how to wire these tranformers in, I can see where the main power goes in but i cant understand how the light itself fixes to the transformer as there is only 1 point that cable can go in or out of(pic 4)

Yes some people may see this as a touch dangerous but I have members of my local council checking progress and checking all the work i do every other day to make sure it is safe.

Haha, pic 4 is not of a transformer; that's the connector you hook the wires into for the light. You don't have a transformer pictured in any of those pics.

ooh seriously ?

Well like i said this is me experimenting, the person i bought these off wanted to fit them for me as he said i needed a proffessional sparky and he said this is all I need to do it. Am I missing parts of should this all be fine ? if it is ok could somebody please post a link to where i could get wiring instructions or even tell me how i wire them in ?

frenchelectrican 06-17-2009 02:19 AM

I did see them in France a bit and no they are NOT transfomer they are actally line voltage set up.

But can you take a photo of the top of that luminaire due I need to double check the set up otherwise someone did not give you correct parts to do the hook up and useage.

Merci,Marc

like i said i have no idea what items are called or anything lol i have purely done all my home imporvements by looking at forums such as this and loooking at web guides.

Sorry you have to put everything in the simplest terms for me

I believe he means the back side opposite where the bulb goes, e.g. the top of it when installed into the ceiling.

Folks here have been trying to help, but remember this is a DIY forum. You can't expect us to be experts on your problem.
