lighting question

If I cut into the wire to the ceiling fan from the attic and then pigtail it back together in a junction box then run my power from that box to power the light would my ceiling fan switch in my bedroom have to be on?

lighting question

You have already posted this question in the other thread, why not wait for someone to answer it for you?

If the power comes into the switch, the switch will have to be on for anything after the switch to work, so the attic light would only work with the bedroom light on.

When your wiring a house don't you most of the time wire it so line power comes into the switch then another line for load coming out of the switch?

I was only asking. In that case I can't really tie into that line to feed the attic light then. Any other suggestions?

Not always. But into a line from a switch to alight is a poor choice unless you know exactly what you have. It could be that there is not even a neutral wire.
The best solution depends on what you find when you look at the wiring. It could be just fine to tap into the line at a ceiling fixture. Or you might need to drop a line down inside a wall and tap into a receptacle.
