Lighting Conversion
I am wanting to add a double pendant lighting kit in the place of a recessed can light over my island in my kitchen. I am hoping to use "The Can Converter" which allows you to covert a can to accept hanging lights, flush mounts, ceiling fans and track lights. My questions is, the "Can Converter" says that it will accept up to 35 lbs. My pendant is 40lbs. Do you think that it will be a hazard to go over the weight limit? The existing can was installed when the house was built. There is no reinforcement with can lights like with ceiling fans. Right?
I know that there are braces that you can add with limited ceiling access. With recessed lighting, do you have to remove the existing can in the ceiling? If so, how do you remove the existing "new construction" cans? Is this difficult? Thanks!
