lightbulb breaks by itself

I just put a flood light/recessed light in yesterday and woke up to glass shattering this morning at 4am. The light had never been turned on but had completely shattered. Does anyone know how that might happen?

lightbulb breaks by itself

1. That bulb was bad. (OT) Once in a blue moon compact fluorescents break when you screw them in because the glass had a thin spot. (OT) Not too many years ago in China, TV picture tubes once in a blue moon broke for no good reason even when the TV was off.

2. After the fixture was installed, strain was put on the bulb because the fixture was warped or crooked or too small and some part pressed on the bulb.

3. (Outdoors) Vandalism.
