Trying to change light switch. This pic of the old shows a black wire being attached to a red wire(via the yellow cap). The red wire is rapped around the switch screw (bare wire) and leaves the switch. There is another red wire coming out of the top of the switch. A yellow wire is attached to the other switch connection.
Thanks for the quick response. I am a super novice. When you say to splice black to red I'm not sure I get it.
Isn't the red wire rapped around the switch contact already spliced to the black? Do you mean the red wire that is just stuck into the switch ?
The installers used the push-in connection and the screws to splice the black and the reds together.
