Light Switch

MB ceiling light quit working. Replaced bulbs, then light then light switch. Still doesn't work. Tested wire at switch, no power. Circuit breaker turned off shuts power to other switches and outlets off and back on when turned on. Thought if no power to one appliance would shut power to other appliances on same circuit. Am I missing something?

Light Switch

Could you clarify your question? Are you confused because you don't have power at the light swtich, despite still having power to the rest of the circuit?

How are you testing for voltage at the switch? Voltmeter or non-contact voltage detector? If using a voltmeter, what two points are you measuring between?

Light Switch

Checked wiring again. The ground had come loose and I think it came into contact with one of the other wires and shorted out. Rewired it again and everything works. Thanks for responding.
