light not working

Hi all,..... new construction....fan/light (Monte carlo) in LR w/ seperate switches, fan works but light does not. I have looked at wiring in light kit, fan, and wall switch and all looks good. (Fan/light in MBR works fine) I don't want to call electrician back out because I have already called him out once for something stupid (no charge) Any suggestions on probable cause or next step, buy a voly meter? Thanks

Buy a multi meter. You can't troubleshoot without one. Forget the contact type voltage detector and get an actual meter. You don't need to spend a lot for one that will work just fine for you.

light not working

Update..... there is no voltage getting to either of the switches (one on two different walls) that controls light on fan. All wires seem to be hooked up at switches...Any other suggestions before i call in electrician?

Just call him. I could take hours asking you what EXACTLY what wires you have and how they are tied together. It sounds like a simple miswire and would take him minutes to solve.
