light inside of a cabinet

i would like to put a under cabinet style light in a large pantry style cabinet that we have.

I would like to have the light come on when it is opened and off when it is closed, like a refrigerator.

is there such a thing that would enable me to do this?

Door switch or micro switch.

A standard door switch is cut into the door jamb. It has a very small metal jbox.

If it's a cupboard door you are going to have to get creative. Maybe a lowvoltage micro switch and a relay to control the light.

Or....once again...a motion detector. It won't shut off right away (probably 60 seconds minimum ) but it will be easier to install.

I recently saw a surface mounted ceiling fixtire with a MD built in.

we used rope lighting in a case like this. run it on the inside of the cab toward the front. we always wired a switched rec. above the cabinet and controlled it with a switch nearby. microswitch would be nice but never had anyone that wanted it over the standard switch. rope lighting worked excellent.
