Light Fixture Wiring System

While changing a light fixture in a 1960s house I discovered different type of wiring. Possibly k&t. One end is copper only and the other is copper with a coil around it. Can I put my fixture up with l&n wiring and if so which wire goes with which lead?

Thanks

Take a photo of your discovery and post it

Never heard of a description of copper with a coil around it unless the coil came out of the wire nut that was holding it together. Post a picture of this strange wire.
