Leviton Lighted 3-way Rocker. Switch works but does not illuminate

i installed the 3-way Leviton Decora and at first I thought the light was not working however when I started screwing the light into the box/wall I became illuminated. As I screwed it in further it went out. My thought is that the neutral wires might be the issues (I have two switches in one box.) Thoughts?.....

When the main light is on, either a regular (single pole) illuminated switch or 3 way illuminated switch has the neon lamp no longer in a complete circuit.

An incorrect way of manufacturing a lighted 3 way switch is to connect the neon light to ground, i.e. the switch frame or yoke.

When the light worked and then stopped working as you screwed the switch into the box, there is a loose connection somewhere, possibly a manufacturing defect in the switch.
