LED lamps for landscape lighting

I have an existing landscape lighting system that uses halogen 12V lamps. Several of the lights are mounted in trees and are a pain to replace when they burn out. I would like to replace with LED lamps for longevity. The lights in question are 12 Volt, 20 Watt, MR16 base halogens.

1. What wattage LED's would I need to get the about the same level of light as the current 20 watt bulbs?

2. My system is 12 Volt AC. Most of the LED bulbs I see (on eBay or the like) say 12 volt but do not say AC or DC. Does this mean they have a rectifier built in and can be used on either a AC or DC system?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I think I would look at Lumens, rather than watts. Some LED lamps are more efficient than others.

That is my understanding. All mine are LED and run on 12VAC.

Try this one: It will work on either 12 Volt AC or DC
