LCD/TV Above Fire Place

How high above the wood burning fireplace do I need to mount the tv?

As far as possible.

These modern flat-screen TVs already have serious heat-management issues, and eat capacitors like candy. I'd recommend doing everything you can to prevent adding to the problem.

We have a one year old Panasonic 50". This TV uses over 800 watts of power and has 3 silent cooling fans.
Might want to rethink mounting it over a heat source.
