Laundry room

Hey folks,

Can someone tell me if I can share general purposes receptacles in a laundry room with an adjacent room?

Also, does a washing machine need its own dedicated 20 amp circuit?

min 1 20 circuit to laundry receptacles within 6 ft of appliance no other outlets on the run. I believe you can run separate convience receptacles between rooms .

Your washing machine needs its own circuit yes and you need another dedicated receptical in the laundry room also. So two circuits

Incorrect.
The NEC requires a dedicated laundry circuit. It makes no mention of a dedicated circuit for a washer.

I believe you are only required to have at a minimum 1 20 amp dedicated circuit intended for the washer/gas dryer (at least that's how it works at my house). Obviously with an electric dryer it needs its own dedicated circuit separate from the washer. Anything beyond that is up to you, so if your lights are on a different circuit than the required dedicated circuit than I wouldn't see a problem tie-ing into the lights. Just make sure they are not tied into the one required circuit for the laundry room and you should be fine.

I have two 20 amps in laundry, but its pretty much a waste. Only things that are plugged in one of the 20 amp circuits pull 45 watts.

One of the circuits can be extended to other parts of the house or basement so long as the other serves just the laundry receptacle.

Yeah, I could extend that and use it as a dedicated 20 for a bathroom right next to it. Its on a slab so no basement runs...there is steel rafters in this area, so mounting a box in the attic may not be easy. Not to mention 2 ft of blown in insulation.

The bathroom circuit can either serve multiple bathroom receptacles only OR 1 bathrooms receptacle and additional loads like exhaust fans and lighting if less than 10 amps. It cannot serve other areas of the house.

I know, I meant to pull it out or cut it in the attic, install a junction, and run new 12/2 to the bathroom.

I'm not saying I actually plan to do this however.
