Lamp Wiring

Hi

I m putting together a lamp as part of a project and need to work out the details of the wiring (the lamp works, but i need to get the minimums and maximums worked out)

1. i am using candelabra bases like these (http://www.grandbrass.com/ShowItem.c...Base%20Sockets

2. there are four of these in total

3. power supply to the lamp will be any standard house outlet!

4. the power cord is standard lamp cord (silver.clear)

what i need to know is the MINIMUM gauge wire I can use to wire this up. I used 16 ga the test go 'round but wanted to be sure to use the least heavy gauge - can i get away with 18 for instance.

Also is there a good source for the non brassy 1/8 IP threaded rod OR is there such a thing as 1/8 IP bolts?

Thanks

If you are saying 4 of those bases per fixture, 18 ga. will work. The total capacity of those bases, @ 125w is a little over 4 amps. At 120 volts 18 ga. wire is acceptable for up to 10 amps. But you need to use fixtue wire, not lamp cord. Fixture wire will have a heat resistant sleeve over it..

Thank You for the reply. The 18 ga wire will give me a little more flexibility (literally) in terms of the design.

I will be getting wire like this (but in 18 ga)

Thanks

That's not fixture wire. Go to a good hardware store or electrical suppy for the wire.
