Kitchen outlet countertop

What is the minimum distance an outlet on kitchen sink countertop has to be? Also, does there have to be 2 - 20 amp. gfci's on a 2 outlet counter? I am in new jersey.

I'm not an electrician but i'm working on my kitchen right now and here's what I understand.

You seem to be asking two separate questions.

Countertop outlets have to be spaced no further than 4 feet apart measured on the length of the wall so that an appliance with a 2 foot cord can be placed ANYWHERE on the counter and still be within reach of an outlet.

Your other question about circuits

You need two circuits for outlets in the kitchen. AFAIK both have to be GFCI protected in some approved manner.

How long is te total counter space, from one end to the other? I have both of mine on the wall with the sink, centered in the wall, so it is in the middel of the three foot counter to the right of the sink, the other is centered on the two foot counter space above the dishwasher.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
