Kitchen light fixture stopped working
I have a hanging light fixture over my kitchen sink and it operates on a dimmer (rolling knob type). I cleaned the glass fixture and wiped down the rest of the fixture. Later that day, it failed to turn on. I checked the breaker and replaced the bulb. The fixture is about 15 years old and not sure of the age of the dimmer, but at least 15 years old too.
Please describe the steps to troubleshoot this. I have limited tools. Thanks |
The first step is make sure you used a good bulb.
Next it make sure you have power at the dimmer, then the top of the light fixture. These test will require the power to be on, so be carefull! |
Did you loosen any wires when you wiped it down?

could it be on a gfi and when it was wiped down a little excess water from the sponge got to something and tripped the gfi?
|
seriously, check the bulb. Replace it with one you have SEEN working. You'd be amazed by the power of coincidental bad luck.
