I had to shut off my water to fix some plumbing. I failed to shut off my icemaker and it no longer operates. Any idea where I should begin to get it up and running again?
This is an electrical site, but I can give you some input. Remove the plastic or copper line that attaches to the fridge. With a bucket in hand, have someone turn on the water. If you get water at the fridge, there could be several reasons why it does not work. Flush it out good while you are at it.
Reconnect the water line and turn on the ice maker. You will hear a definate click when the water valve opens. Put your finger down in the ice maker and see if it is filling with water. If it is not filling with water the valve is choked by foreign matter. A piece the size of a small grain of sand is all it takes. If it does not make the clicking sound (valve opening) you need to remove the valve and replace it. See if the valve is getting the 120 volts required to actuate the valve.
If everything above works then your ice maker is the problem. That is where I quit.
I must assume since you did some plumbing work, that it is an obstruction and that is what I would be looking for.
