I work at a church and we are getting a new high output printer. It requires 208/240. The building is run with 3 phase. I was wondering if I am correct in thinking that a double pole 20 breaker with two hots and a ground(earth) is all that needs to be run. I am not doing the work, just wondering if i'm correct. If i am correct, is it also possible to pick up the ground from a passing outlet? Thanks for your know hows!!!
I would ask what kinda 3 phase is it ???
delta or Y ...
what plug does the device require ???
"I would guess a 4 prong with a Neutral"
next we got into an issue with a stack dryer( 1 30 plug ) ... 208 high leg ... we used the b phase as one of the legs ( 4 wire plug ).... just happened that that prong of the dryer need to get 120v for the controls also ..LOL so we switched it ... swoped legs at the breaker ... old military base being converted to residential ...but supplied by 3 phase ... it was actually the old Officers quarters housing ..everything underground and in ducts and it was not changing ..
