Jacuzzi tub won't work - has power

Kntry. (Poster #15)
I will just address the last line of your post. ...I know nothing about electricity, except that 120 and 240 volt plugs don't look alike.... (paraphrasing).
There's a good reason for that. Because if the wrong voltage is applied (Either higher or lower), the motor can burn out and it can cause other damage!

Jacuzzi tub won't work - has power

He came back out and changed the wires around to 220. He tested the plugs and they registered 110 and 220 but the tub still does not work. I have a repair man coming out this week to check it out.

Thank you for all the help. I'll let you know what they find.

Eh ?
120 and 240 volts from the same receptale ??

If switched around that sound like someone did make a serious mistake there and if the motor was wired for 120 volt and hook up to 240 volts supply .,,, POOF!! Au Revior motor .,,,

Guess who failed, miserably, their final inspection today?

I had absolutely nothing to do with it either.

Now, lets see how long it takes him to fix the problems and how much money he's going to want. He won't be getting another penny from me. He's going to have to pay the fine and buy larger breakers for some of the ones he put in the box that were too small in addition to many other corrections.

You really should anonymously report this hack to whatever body governs your building dept. He should NOT be doing ANY wiring in anyone's home. He is going to kill someone!!!

I'm not usually vindictive but he's on my last nerve. Although I wanted to, I had nothing to do with the failed inspection this morning.

What goes around, comes around, his will just come a little faster in the way of a few DWI's (he drank wiring the house and drinks and drives every day). That will save someone's life/family. My DH is disabled after he was on his Harley and hit head on by a drunk. He knows better.

This guy should have his license revoked. I sure hope she does not pay him to correct the "CODE VIOLATIONS" that he caused doing the work.

Hivolt, there's no way he'll be paid to correct those problems. I wouldn't have paid him the $400 for the stove but DH said to pay him. Usually, it's the other way around but I don't usually get this angry.

He came out today and corrected everything. We'll see if he passes this time.

The tub repair man comes out tomorrow. I'm praying it's something easy. If the motor's burned up, I'm going to really have a job on my hands and I doubt the manufacturer will cover it.

As an inspector, only once in a while do I see shoddy work. If the motor was damaged because of the wrong voltage going to the motor, the electrician should be held responsible for the damage. I do not know which model Elantra you have, but what I have read they are mostly 120 volt.

The tub is a Jacuzzi Ellara Salon Spa.

Jacuzzi is telling me the motor is 110 but the distributor that I purchased it from said 220. I would think the electrician should have looked and known what it was before wiring for it.

That is my simple rule check the nameplate many time it can change info or set up over the time and I always check the nameplate for correct info or other related items to the nameplate to verify it is correct voltage.

I don't know. I wasn't there. I'm going to have my hubby ask him when he comes back and actually starts taking everything out.
