Interior ceiling light converted to exterior?

Hi all,

I have been looking for a light to put over my bath/shower but I can't find what I want without spending RIDICULOUS money. So, I want to just find a ceiling light I want whether it's basic or for the bathroom or outside and make it work for the bathroom shower area. Is this doable? Is there something special I need to do to make it safe for that area? Does it need to be closed up (meaning the glass comes to meet the fixture) to be used in that area?
