insulation and cans

I have IC rated cans, they say something to the effect of direct contact with insulation is OK. But, what about the kraft paper? I am thinking I will leave a little space between the can and insulation, unless you all think it is fine to snug it right up the cans. BTW, there is about 2" from top of can to underside of roof deck so I won't put any insulation on top of the cans.

Thanks

insulation and cans

I would cut some insulation down to 1" thick & put it over the cans
Otherwise you will have a hole that will leak heat right to the roof
If you use CFL's it will not be as bad

I put my Kraft faced right up against the metal of the can
As long as the can is IC (in contact) rated direct contact is OK

insulation and cans

They cover up the IC rated can with blown insulation all the time. Not that I like the idea. Just never saw anyone tagged for it.
