Installing outlets in cabinets

Ebierley Member   Join Date: Jan 2013 Location: Rochester, NY Posts: 46	Installing outlets in cabinets I am installing new kitchen cabinets and need to install several outlets inside cabinets. One for the microwave and a couple for phone chargers etc. do I need to mount the boxes so that they come out from the wall enough to fit flush with the inside of the cabinet? Or can I set them for the drywall? Thanks, Eric

That's exactly what I do. I cut out the back of the cabinet with my fein tool and use a remodel box. Sometimes I use longer screws with the little wings if the walls are plaster or thicker than the wings would normally reach. Very easy and clean installation. Mike Hawkins

Not nearly the time spent measuring exactly where the box is. One thing I like to do is use the adjustable depth boxes for the back splash area below the cabinets, that way they can be screwed out flush with the tile or whatever later.
